Six Tips to Improve Website Traffic

1. Improve your search engine ranking. Most people use search engines to find Web sites. By using software that crawls through millions of Web sites, search engines create lists based on key words and phrases.

2. Get listed in directories. Directories list Web sites by topic area, and are compiled by humans, not software. You can submit your site for inclusion.

3. Buy search engine placement. Search engines sell premium listings for keywords. This can be very affordable, since you typically only pay for "click throughs" to your site. Prices are based on demand by advertisers for that term.

4. Get links from related sites and sources. Make it easy for potential customers to click to you from other sites they're visiting.

5. Buy ads. Just as in the real world, you can pay for ads to get your name known on the Internet. These work best on sites that are closely related to your product or service, such as those listed above.

6. Include your Web site address on everything. Remember, most customers will find you from the real world. So include your Web address on every piece of printed material, advertisement, forum post, invoice, etc. And add it as a tagline to all of your e-mails.

Increase Website Traffic with Webrings

Increase Website Traffic Tips PART 1

One simple and easy way to increase your website traffic is by joining webrings. These networks are designed to increase website traffic by affiliating your site with other similar websites in your particular niche. However what tends to happen is that only the smaller and less popular sites join these rings. Web Rings in simple terms are a group of like-minded sites all linking to each other. Web rings are usually made up of these small to medium-sized websites with low page rank... not exactly what you had in mind.

A web ring can be created on just about any topic, and by just about anybody. After creating a ring, the owner is responsible for attracting and approving applicants. Approved websites become part of the web ring.

Navigating through webrings is normally done by using the "next", "previous" "random site" and "complete list" links. The first original web ring system, which is now a part of Yahoo! is still very much by far the most popular and can be found at: http://www.webring.org

Webrings are a simple and easy way to increase website traffic but they will never be able to bring in the sheer masses of visitors and chart breaking amounts of page hits. Joining a few webrings is just a basic step in promoting your website, next you should start to think about search engine rankings.
